One Quick Question
With your eyes open and relaxed, can you see a crease on the upper lid? A photo cannot always tell, so your answer helps.
Your Eye Shape
Almond Eyes
Your head looks slightly tilted or turned, which can change the tilt reading. For the best result, retake the photo looking straight at the camera.

Wider than tall with gently pointed outer corners and a visible crease. The most versatile eye shape.
Almost as tall as they are wide, with an open, bright look and the white often visible above or below the iris.
The outer corners sit higher than the inner corners, giving a natural lifted, cat-eye look.
The outer corners sit a little lower than the inner corners, for a soft, gentle expression.
A smooth upper eyelid with no visible crease, so the lid sits in one even plane.
A crease is there, but a fold of skin from the brow bone covers most of the lid when the eye is open.
How each shape compares on proportion, corner tilt and eyelid crease.
Stand in good light, look straight ahead and relax your face. Then check these four things.
No crease means monolid. A crease hidden under skin means hooded.
Nearly as tall as wide, with white above or below the iris, means round. Clearly wider means almond.
Hold a pencil across both inner corners. Outer corners above it are upturned, below it downturned.
If the gap between your eyes is wider than one eye, they are wide-set. Narrower means close-set.

Find My Nose Type →Upload a front-facing photo and the detector measures how wide your eyes are compared with their height, how much the outer corners tilt and how far apart your eyes sit. One quick question about your eyelid crease completes the picture, and you get one of six eye shapes plus your eye spacing.
The main shapes are almond, round, upturned, downturned, monolid and hooded. Eye spacing (wide-set, close-set or average) is described separately, because it is about the distance between your eyes rather than the shape of each eye.
Almond eyes are clearly wider than they are tall and taper slightly at the outer corners. Round eyes are closer to equal in height and width, and you can often see white above or below the iris.
Hooded eyes have a crease, but a fold of skin from the brow bone covers it when the eye is open. Monolid eyes have no visible crease at all, so the lid is smooth from lashes to brow.
Yes. Many people are a mix, such as almond and upturned, or round and hooded. It is also common for your two eyes to differ slightly. The detector shows your main shape and the traits that go with it.
Canthal tilt is the angle between the inner and outer corners of your eye. If the outer corner sits higher, the tilt is positive and the eye looks upturned. If it sits lower, the tilt is negative and the eye looks downturned. A small positive tilt is the most common.
Upturned and almond eyes suit most liner styles. Round eyes look longer with a winged liner. Downturned eyes look lifted when the liner flicks upward at the outer corner. Monolid and hooded eyes need slightly thicker liner, drawn with the eyes open so it stays visible.
It works best with a sharp, front-facing photo in soft light, with a relaxed face and eyes open normally. Squinting, smiling and head tilt can change the result, so treat it as a helpful guide and try a second photo if you are unsure.
The basic shape stays the same, but skin above the eyes can loosen over time, so eyes often look more hooded or slightly more downturned with age.

Almond eyes are generally considered the most common, followed by round eyes. Most people have a slight positive tilt, so neutral to slightly upturned corners are very common too.
Look straight into a mirror with relaxed eyes. Check whether you can see a crease, whether your eyes are wider than tall, whether the outer corners sit above or below the inner corners, and whether the gap between your eyes is wider or narrower than one eye.
